It is a beautiful State park in the Colorado River valley bounded by bottom lands and high scenic bluffs. The water runs in long winding pools and shallow, rock-strewn rapids. In places, beautiful waterfalls cascade to the river below. MORE Number of View :462

I found this hawk(sharp shinned?) jumping around on something in my back yard. I thought maybe it was wounded or something but after taking closer look I realized it had claimed a white wing and was looking to have dinner. It took off over a fence as I got closer but dropped the bird close enough for me to nail these photos. I noticed later that the dove had been spooked into my bathroom window and left quite an imprint. This is either a juvenile Sharp Shinned or Coooper’s Hawk. Both are classified as Accipiter’s. I was using my Nikon D80 with 75-200 zoom lens. Enjoy Number of View :443
